I was watching Back to the Future part 2 today and I was amazed to see the Knight 4000 driving through fhe future Hill Valley. You can spot the car only for a few seconds, when Marty gets out of the DeLorean (after the rain stops) to look around. The car drives in front of the alley in which Marty and the Doc are in.

I know which car you are talking about....that is NOT the Knight 4000, but a car that looks similar. BTTF 2 was made in 1987 I believe, but Knight Rider 2000 was not made until 1991 and it was made specifically for KR2000.

I was thinking that BTTF 2 was before KR2000.

actually its not KIFT, the modified dodge stealth in BTTF2, its actually the real pontiac banshee prototypes (there were 2 or 3 seen in different colors in bttf2) as the stealth didnt even exist yet.

actually bttf2 was filmed in 1988, the same year the banshee came out

heres a pic where you see 2 in the background

There is only one Banshee. The other one is not a Banshee. Just a custom
car. Pontiac only built one. It's convenient too that that Bashee is
parked right out in front of a BIG Pontiac logo! Most likely a dealer! LOL.

As for the other cars, if you look at the one in front of the VW, that
is the car used in Spaceballs.

It's not coincidental...its actually a very good product-placement gimmick by Pontiac.

I was wondering if they got the idea for KIFT from that movie.

They didn't get the idea from the movie, but they did already have the 1988 Pontiac Banshee concept car in mind for the Knight 4000 role. Here's more.

SOURCE: http://www.kr2k.com/
When the producers of Knight Rider 2000 went to General Motors and asked for permission to use the Pontiac Banshee Concept Car for the Knight 4000, GM declined, saying that if the movie turned into the series, they would be once again swamped by requests for the "Knight 4000 Car." So the producers turned to Jay Ohrberg Star Cars Inc. for help. Ohrberg and his staff constructed a car which resembled the Banshee on top of a 1991 Dodge Stealth.

also, in the Knight Rider series, all the way through, there are concept designs in the Semi, which look similar to a banshee like vehicle.

How can you not stand BTTF, they were some of the best movies ever... Most KR fans are also fans of BTTF, no?

I mean the Delorean was one sweet ride and the way they portrayed time travel, it made you feel like you were actually there, I claim the Trilogy as my all time favorite movie, or movies, and nothing in Sci-Fi/Adventure has come close to it in my book...

The BTTF movies are the best ones ever to be made I think they did a fantastic job making that movie.

I don't think anyone would really go out and ask for a Knight 4000.

Did anyone on these forums actually go to a Pontiac dealer and ask for KITT???

There are people who think the characters on tv are real people. I think David had one fan want to autograph a pic and got mad when he signed David Hasselhoff :P . SO yes, I think people really did ask for a KITT car at the Pontiac dealers back in the day  .

Wasn't there also an incident in which some chap tried jumping his Trans Am over a train?

by LuvKITT
Yeah that's what Glen said on the comentary on the Pilot episode. There were also princes in the middle east who were trying to jump their Roles Royces. As stated by David.

I don't know about people on this forum, and asking for 'KITT' per say, but what I do know is that back in the early 80's, Pontiac dealerships were swamped by requests for the black and gold t-top Trans Ams because of Knight Rider.

I gather that most of the board's users were either too young to have been able to afford a Trans-Am at the time...or even to have seen any of the original episode's run dates.

It's quite an eye opener to hear David commenting on the DVD about appearing in the pilot scene with three dead people. Time sure passes too quickly.
