I use to have this "Cut off Challenge". I wish I had taken better care of it. Even at my current age - I would still play with it. I even thought about trying to get one off Ebay.pewter 02ws6 wrote:here is a link to one up for auction

Josch, you have there the KITT from Scalextrix set "Persuit mode". (see top two pics in the quote). Its basically SPM with spoilers etc tucked in as these would break off to easily, so they show in the cast where they would pop out from. I believe Scalextrix did two sets with the other one having a ramp so you jump over the other track.Josch Schulz wrote:Look what i find That looks more like my Car

The smaller KITT in your 3rd link is the cut-off challenge with the red semi and is a smaller scale which pewter 02ws6 did a link to
Hope this helps

"Andy KITT" hit it on the nose. Don't the Yanks have Scalextric?
Awsome Sets. Apart from the turbo boost on one set, unfortunatly they were quite boring, just a figure of eight track!!
What's interesting, is that later they released a M.A.S.K. set to the popular TV Cartoon, which was the same track and package and both cars (one being Mat Trackers red car) were the very same KITT mould with the bumber and space for the scanner.
After trashing my KITT on the Turbo Boost set (My fault I tried to set it up so it jumped off a table) I sprayed my M.A.S.K. car black abd got my KITT MK2!!!!
Soz to babble!

Made my own slot car...
I took a Skynet body, and built my own KITT slot car. The scanner works, the fog lights light, and the brake lights come on when you stop accelerating.
The top one on the left is the radio controlled SkyNet KITT, and the one below it is the slot car I made. Notice the aluminum rims. I couldn't figure a way to put the black bowling ball rims on so they would stay put, yet be able to take them off if I needed to get the wheels off.

My collection
OK, Josch, I didn't want to hog up this thread with all my stuff, but here goes:
The center car is the one you were referring to:
It is from Argentina, and I won it on ebay. The front scanner has 4 lights that go back and forth. It uses a 9Volt battery.
Here is the rest of my dresser:
Hidden in the back of the first picture I posted is a Monogram kit I put together. The scanner works, and I have a digital recording chip in the base that has the "I am the Knight Industries 2000.." speech made by KITT. It is all sound activated, so it comes on automatically:
I used pictures I cut out of magazines for the dash. I did it in 1982 and won a model contest for it.
I am currently working on another one that I hope will be more accurate, and also have the fog lights come on. I also built a real scale voicebox that I want to incorporate into the base this time.
Here is a picture of the voicebox:
OR, you can see AND hear the WMV (at only 82K) at:
http://home.att.net/~corlando52/kittvoxsound.wmv
Hope I didn't go on too much about my stuff.

Thanks!
Thank you to everyone for the kind words about the voicebox. I found a schematic on the Internet and started from there. I had to modify it quite a bit, just using some logic, basic electronics knowledge and good old trial and error...that's the part that took the longest!
You can see my modified schematic here:
http://home.att.net/~corlando52/voiceboxmodified.jpg
PLEASE make sure to read my note at the bottom..very important!
For the outside, I just used some plexiglass I got from Home Depot, cut it to size, masked where the LEDs went, painted it black from behind. Then I made the letters on the computer (the font is easy to find), and just used some gels for the color parts. The recording chip I got from RadioShack.
Josch...I don't have anymore pictures of the car from Argentina...and everything is packed away right now, but if I find the car, I will take more pictures for you. The strange thing about it is the windshield is chrome.
Peter...I'm sorry, but you can't have my voicebox. It took a long time for me to make and I swore to never do it again. But if you make it with my mods, it will make it a lot easier. Also, Jupiter sells a really nice one for probably cheaper than it cost me to make mine.

If I hadn't made one, I would definately buy one from them.

Yes
I have the new Ertl KITT and I used to have the old talking KITT, still in the box, but I sold it because I just ran out of room.
I have the Crossover Challenge slot car set, actually 2 of them, but they won't work if you connect them together, for some strange reason. I bought 2 so I could have more track, but it just won't work.
I wish they would make a 1/18 or larger Remote control KITT, maybe even gas...that would be awesome!
And, as I'm sure with all of us, dream of having a Real size KITT..

They do a 1:18 remote control, seen them both in the UK & US, look like the same model but different packaging.
