From what Devon said on another episode, Wilton had been following Michael Longs career. So, I am guessing when the police didn't hear from Michael after a while they contacted Wilton. This is just my reasoning. If you pick apart a show you are going to find all kinds of questions that come up about it.

By that time I'm sure news of Muntzy's demise had reached the police scanners. We had one in the 80's....why not Wilton Knight?
With that news in mind, seeing a man's body in front of Michael's car, it would seem to be a logical conclusion.
On a side note, it would have been a short series if Wilton had assumed Michael was merely a drunkard and flown off in his helicopter.
"But sir, that *was* Michael Long."
"Doh!"

What I mean to say is that maybe Wilton went to meet up with Michael Long at the hotel/casino or check in with his police chief to call hime in out of the undercover assignment to tell him that he's been hired by F.L.A.G.Along the way he passes some guy in a suit passed out over his car which is a brand new trans am.

perhaps it was just good old fashioned morbid curiosity, if you see a guy lying on the floor in front of a car youd go over to see what had happened we all do its just human nature i guess. besides suppose ilton had planned to follow tania perhaps it was mere coincedence that michael was there when wiltn flew over in the helicopter. i cant see it being that if wilton wanted to recruit michael as a member of flag, that he would let him get shot first.

I have another theory...
We all know that Wilton Knight had the ability for high-tech survailence and he was following Michael Long. This means, he didn't NEED police scanners. He could home in and listen in on the transmissions between Michael and Muntzy at the casino.
From what Devon told Michael in Trust Doesn't Rust, Tonya and her crew were going against Wilton Knight and Knight Industries, and nearly succeeded. So Wilton was watching them all. Tony for his own survival and Michael to case him for the Pilot project. I think Wilton secretly hoped Michael would do away with Tonya and use KITT to do it, but he didn't expect Michael to get shot. He probably expected Michael to either succeed in the mission, or if not, then he would approach him after Michael escaped with the prospect of finishing the case using KITT and then staying on with the Foundation afterwards.
Remember when Wilton was in the helicopter and saw Michael on the ground. He said "My God! We're too late!" This means he knew that something was coming down by listening in on the conversations himself with his own technology, perhaps. But by the time he got to the meeting area (and who knows if he had someone stick some kind of tracking device on Michael's Trans Am without Michael knowing it?) he didn't expect Michael to have been shot.
At least I think that is how it all went down.

Im puzzled.
Michael had a Chevy ??? he claimed to missing his chevy (made a appearance in KN4000)
But he claims in ep 1 series 1 (i think) that his car was the Black Transam.
So either he had 2 cars or they made a mistake.
How did wilton know about Michael Long's Transam before he met him, i mean KARR was an earlier model in production than KITT so either that was a really good guess or he has been following him for quite some time.

I thought it was obvious that the doctor was referring to the severity of the damage to his face by saying they'd "never know what he looked like." They knew what he looked like, hell Wilton probably had a file somewhere detailing every minute of his life....The doctor wasn't being literal, only to emphasize that the bullet exiting his face caused catastrophic disfigurement so complete and devastating it would be impossible to tell what he looked like beforehand. Of course, the surgery took care of that!

On the Chevy, I agree that it was probably a high school vehicle. After all, most people will own multiple vehicles in their lifetime. It's not like Michael would drive that old Chevy for his whole life. He simply upgraded to a new Pontiac during his police life. Oh...and, that Chevy would have been pre-military service, I suspect.
Now, for the question at hand.
I've always felt that Wilton has had many secrets that he never shared and took to his grave. He was rich enough. My long term conclusion was that he had spies, both Human and technology based, monitoring Michael Long discretely. So, he knew about what had happened in the parking lot. Michael going with Tanya. Probably a tracker told him where the car wound up at.
...and, yea. KITT's abilities to track things and take images at impossible angles does lead to questions about how powerful the Foundation's technology really was. (Let's not even go there about how some of the bad guys/gals of the week had compiled footage, like they just edited together VHS from the broadcasts of the episodes. Reasoning that one out is near impossible, for the most part.)

Actually, I could go with that, personally. We could say he meant what he said in a different way, just to try to keep it logical.finalfadeout wrote:I thought it was obvious that the doctor was referring to the severity of the damage to his face by saying they'd "never know what he looked like." There is only one answer to this conundrum....
There is only two people that really know the answer to this intriquing question..............................................................................................They are ........................................................................................................................................................................................Glen and Wilton.
