Foreign DVD's

Post by ramon88us » Fri Apr 21, 2006 2:43 pm

I read somewhere that the DVD sets of Knight Rider dont have double sided discs but have double the amount of discs and wondered if any of you had pictures of what the packages look like from the inside on foreign Dvds?

I think the German sets are single sided DVDs, but I'm not 100% sure...

My DVD's are Region 2 (bought them from Amazon.co.uk (England)). They are singlelayed and they work perfectly! I'm not sure as to whether Texas has the region 1 or 2 coding, however it is said that the DVD versions with doublelayers are of poor quality! One single scratch and you will wind up with a piece of plastic that doesn't work.

Note, this might not be true at all, but I've heard several people complaining about the doublelayer versions. But the singlelayers works like any other DVD!
Michael: Kitt what matters to me is who you are not what you look like. Sure we don't have the car so we can't turbo boost so we can't go over 200 miles an hour but it was all icing on the cake anyway

Aussie R4 dvds

Post by Aussie Knight Rider » Fri Apr 21, 2006 11:42 pm

Region 2 and 4 dvd are the same they work fine the only reason some people don't like them is that they are hacked they chop every teaser of the start of every episode but the picture quallity and sound are wicked.

Yes - they are single sided DVDs.

My 1st and 2nd season DVD:s are region 2, scandinavian (finnish) versions and they are single sided. Here's pics of the artwork side of the discs and inside the box:

Aw man. I wish the US had those kinds of sets. Seems totally unfair that we have the awful double sided ones...hehe.

I could care less about the teasers, I go right by them anyway when I watch the DVDs.

I'm from the UK but I got a region 1 on import for 2 reasons:

The teasers are included where as the ones on the R2 set are not.

The pilot episode on the season 1 set is not in order. It's mixed somewhere down the line in the season. Why? No idea.

Universal Uk says that the transition from the reel's they use when converting
to pal the picture quallity and sound quality is beter than the USA NTSC Format and so takes up alot more space on the discs and to save room and money so they dont use double the amout of discs, and sell them for an unreasonable price so they cut them which is anoying but neither side of the world has a perfect set what the USA gets is knight rider the way it was seen on tv all over the world
exept for serten seasons where music has been modified but on rubbish discs
then the UK Europe and Austraila get good discs but hacked teaser less episodes. in my oppinon when I found this out I thought oh no I love the teasers that work you up so you want to watch the episode like was played on tv all over the world but then when I got the dvds I thought its not so bad
you get used to not having the teasers after a while. plus every time you buy
any Universal release Tv Series in Region 2&4 weather it be Quantum Leap The Ateam Magnam PI or Knight Rider you might not get the teasers but you know every
episode is going to work with no errors on the dvds Themselves and hopfully with the sound fixed in the last two seasons this side of the worlds shaddowy flight will finaly be over and every one will have every episode of Knight Rider and who would've thought in the 80s and 90s it would be possible to have every episode at our dispence, thanks to dvd we dont have
to beg for company's to put this stuff on tv any more because we will own it.
Thank For Reading I hope this Explans some things.

Hmm...I might have to try and get R2 of all 4 seasons sometime. Yeah I am that much of a fan that I would have 2 different sets of the show.

Region 2

Post by alexmain_za » Mon Apr 24, 2006 7:39 am

Yeah me too, I live in South Africa (which is Region 2), but I have bought the Region 1 discs because of the teasers.
The region 2 versions are dual layer single sided discs, which is nicer than the double sided discs.
The downside of the R2 discs is the release dates :-)
So, I'll also have both the R1 and R2 versions. KR Rulz.
