KARR's Makeover

I was browsing through the comments about Season 3 a few days before it came out and a lot of people talked about how in the KITT vs KARR episode that KARR mentions he'd like to have his appearance changed but the show never shows us that. However correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't KARR start out the episode solid black and then turn half black (on top) and half silver (on bottom)? If so then there's his makeover. ^-^

I think they were more like "first he's black then suddenly he's got silver trim".

IMO they all probably wanted to SEE the change taking place PLUS apparently there's a scene missing on syndication episodes where something about this happens (can't remember where/which scene).

Yeah, that's a pretty commonly recognized plot point. I figure that the director (or somebody on the art department) wanted to visually differentiate KARR for the final showdown. The story rationalization is that he wants to be different from KITT. Kind of a weak explanation, but eh, he's got some wires loose, he could just like two-tone paint jobs.

It says in a scene on the DVD but cut in syndication that he wanted to modify his appearance. It wasn't right before seeing the change, it was right after John put KARR in the garage the first time after he found him. You have to listen to him. I had to go back and rewatch it because I was scared it was cut out of the DVD release too. I was relieved when I heard it!

The whole problem is, John still backs down from KARR's offer so it makes one assume John wasn't going to do anything more for KARR.

I really hated seing KARR get destroyed it is the same as seeing a trans am get destroyed except worse or kitt getting destroyed. I am surprised they didn't just try to negosiate with KARR

I feel the same way. I like KARR quite a bit, actually. The silver/black version was really cool! :) That's why a lot of my fanifc involves KARR. Not much was done with him and so I'm hoping to somehow maybe make stories that suppose what if KARR turned good and how, after all FLAG did to him, he'd be able to join their site.

The flaw I find in the whole KARR storyline is this: supposedly the only difference between KITT and KARR is a bit of programming, KITT was programmed for the preservation of human life, while KARR was programmed for self preservation. Most of their components are identical. Why would they scrap an entire car with a lot of expensive components just because the software was a bit glitchy? Heck, they could've just taken the CPU module out and replaced it with one that was more KITT-like. It just seems a waste to build a whole new car (KITT) because of that. Also, why wasn't KARR in much worse shape in KITT vs KARR ? He exploded at the end of Trust Doesn't Rust, and yet when he's dug out of the beach he's in absolutely perfect condition, enough to drive through bridge supports with no damage. And how could one hit in the scanner with a laser make it so KITT could go right through him without any damage? I liked seeing KARR again, but this episode is full of plot holes.

KRFan I think you mean a fanfic. Because KARR didn't show up only twice in the KR TV shows and was destroyed (supposedly) both times.

What fanfic was it? Do you have a link to it?

i've read qite a few dfferent fan fics that dealt with KARR's "rehab" so to speak, One of the main ones was from the defunct Knight Rider Legeds series and the other batch from the Knight Rider Collective where KARR was rebuilt and partnered with a woman driver named D.J.
