Fire Is Not a Mansion's Best Friend

Post by Joe Huth » Thu Oct 06, 2005 4:25 pm

On the news this morning....

The Tudor style mansion used as Bernie Mitchell's residence in "Diamonds Aren't a Girl's Best Friend" went up in flames yesterday night. According to the news, no one lived at the mansion at the time. It was completely gutted. This mansion was used in a ton of other TV shows/movies, but it is most famously Wayne Manor from the 1960's Batman series. I believe it was in the beginning of Scary Movie 2 also. Scratch that off your California Knight Rider tour list.

Aw man! :( That's awful. I didn't know it was the '60s Batman mansion. I watched that in the early 70s as a kid when they had reruns of it and LOVED Batman and Robin. So that mansion appeared in at least two of my favorite TV shows.

Such a shame. Do they know what caused the fire? Will they be rebuilding/restoring it?

There was a fire, but it wasn't the Batman house.

"Early news reports said the house that burned down on Wednesday night was the historic mansion on S. San Rafael Avenue, Pasadena, 15 miles north-east of downtown Los Angeles, that served as the "Wayne Manor" of Batman TV series fame...But the 16,000-square-foot home that caught fire was actually further down the street."

Whew! That's good! But bad too for the house that DID burn down. :(

Bummer...I hope they will eventually make that place fireproof in the event of future CA fires.

Don't say that!

I remember neps' trip and photos of how areas have changed where there was KR filming. Then there's New Orleans...

Thank goodness it wasn't Arden Villa.
By the way, does anyone know anything about the house used in Soul Survivor, the Adrianne's house where Michael was hypnotized?
