knight rider movies

I know the way things are going the knight rider movie wont happen.What happened to the one where a guy from the UK had a kitt conversion and it was shipped over to make a UK comedy version of knight rider? I rememebr seeing a trailer.

Yes...

On imdb board you can find the following information:

1) Director has been picked up. it's Joseph Merhi (considered one of the best tv action movies directors of the 90's)
2) Pre-production will begin on september 2005
3) Movie set for a november/december 2006 release. Producers have been asking for long pre-production time as they still want to sign a lot of guests for it
4) the knight 4000 will play a part on the movie. (probably the intro were it gets distructed? since the old trans am will be kitt)
5) karr confirmed as the only antagonist.
6) the script is called "Knight Rider Returns", but it may change in the future. i heard the title was choosed because they wanted to "challenge" upcoming new superman movie, another 80's icon, called "Superman Returns"

I look at the facts.David was much more fired up about the movie a few years back when he was on Conan O'brian he mentioned his daughters telling him u better do a movie quick cause u dont look like him anymore.

He wanted to do a cartoon series,comics and the movie.After he went to Revolution and they were dumb enough to say lets do it but no talking car.I was LMAO about how they didnt want kitt to talk.Thats like making a new superman movie with him completely forgetting about Clark Kent.

Nowadays all you hear from David is that hes going all over the states visiting and vacationing.Get back to work on the movie or has he already forgotten?

Yes, this movie has had a lot of trouble

I think that only an idiot could have thought about a non-speaking car as the new KITT.

Of course David wasn't agreed with this stupid idea and fought against the production (and he won) so there was a delay. Now we have to hope David will come back from his vacation and start the movie

Now, maybe I was considering the idea of writing a fan fiction where Michael couldn't work with KITT and had to fight KAMO with KR(O), who wasn't ready to talk...but, I wouldn't want to see a KR movie with only Michael...that's just not right.

What vacations are you talking about? It seems, he just spent a couple of weeks in New York this summer. David is a very busy man. He had wrote a book, worked in "Click", will take a part at a beneficent concert very soon, etc... Does it sound like a vacation???

I think they were talking about Michael Knight in the series, not the real life David Hasselhoff.

Actually, I think they are talking about David, not Michael. Jup was just saying that maybe David kept the vacation mentality from back when he played Michael in the '80s. Still, I don't think he takes that many vacations, and even if he did, I really don't get the impression that he's slacking on making the movie. He's already been going above and beyond to make it happen; I think it's just a matter of coordinating all that's involved with making a motion picture.

I honestly think David H. isn't goofing off most of the time. After doing countless autograph signings, appearances, operas...etc., a person is bound to seek some rest. He also has a family to look after and it would be perfectly natural for a person to seek solace from the spotlight every once in a while to be with his loved ones.

David isn't avoiding work, he has a family to feed. Add the fact that he's not as young as he used to be doesn't help matters much.

Regarding the KR movie, David has already given the sign that he is interested in making it (he was always ready from the beginning).

In the A&E biography he said he was always working hard and liked to work fast as well. It kept him going. I still think all of you guys with great movie ideas should someone write to David, or get his attention to come to this site to give him YOUR movie ideas. You guys are genius coming up with some movie plots, etc!!!

Funny comment about Michael Knight always wanting to take a vacation!

Really I think they should do the movie quick before the craze of bringing back old shows like Dukes of Hazzard, etc wears off. But look- they even have a Michael Knight Halloween costume this year, has anyone seen that in the past 18-20 years? Hopefully it means a movie is coming soon. I CANT WAIT and Im sure none of you can either.

Sorry if I understood something wrong... Yeah, Michael often dreamed about vacations.

I had not heared that David wanted to do a comic book, or cartoon film about Michael and Kitt. Did he really have any thoughts about it?

my only worry is that it may turn out like knight rider 2010 <starts twitching>. I do have one hope though, it would be nice if they took some of the FanFiction into consideration for this movie IE Shadow of The Knight series where KARR and KITT work together, just my opinion though.

All I know is that if David takes as many vacations as George W Bush,
we will NEVER see a film made. only man I know with a 4 year job and
one of those years is spent on vacations. WTF.

Regarding the KR film. I am sure it will be made. If David is holding out
to make the film that the FANS wanna see, it will be worth the wait.
Seems the 80's shows are still becomign films for some time to come.

Dukes, Starsky and Hutch, Miami Vice, A-team, and so on, they are all
in the works if not already released. just give them time, I am sure it will
be done.

Lets hope so! I only wish we could ask David himself, or let him know all of these fans really want to see a movie made. There's really no way to write him except to email, and I've done that a couple times without even a secretary's response.
