Are KARR and KITT's interiors soundproof?

Are KITT and KARR's interiors soundproof? In KITT vs KARR, when KARR has Mandy locked inside his body, she is screaming, but we can't hear her. Though I've never seen any other reference to either of their interiors being soundproof.

I think they are supposed to be. I am not totally sure of other incidences of showing the sound proofing, but it would be a pretty simple and natural function of the cars.

I figured but for some reason I am unconsciously in nitpick search lately.

i'm not sure, but in "knight of the phoenix" when tanya "kills herself" at the end michael warns her, i'm not sure wether she could hear him or not.

In KITTNAP, the seats were destroyed after the villain shot at the inside of the car when he thought Michael was inside. So the seats, we now know, aren't soundproof.

But as for the dash itself..who knows?

Ehm...skav you lost me in there. How can the seats be soundproof?
Maybe you mean bulletproof...but it's quite a big distance from one thing to the other.

In the Pilot, when MK gets pulled over by the cops. They see him talking but they can't hear him (or at least we can't). I think they (KITT + KARR) weren't soundproof as such but more like regular cars, where normally you shouldn't be able to hear what's going on inside but if you shout hard/loud enough, people will hear you.

Maybe they had a way of somehow making their interiors soundproof?

I doubt KITT and KARR's interiors were completely soundproof. In any car, if you said something with the window up the person on the outside wouldn't hear, unless you were shouting. That said, it was probably more soundproof than the average car, but nothing suggests that it was completely soundproof... otherwise you wouldn't have heard the bomb explosions that happened inside KITT in certain episodes.

Ah, oops, I misread the question, sorry. I have bad days like that!

I agree with the above statements, I don't believe it was fully SOUNDproof.

I think it was just like every other car but KITT might have come with a feature installed where the sound could be blocked out completely?

But in 'Dead Of Knight' at the beginning, when Michael is in a tinted KITT, he is whispering while inside...which suggests people could have heard him if he talked loud enough.

I don't think they are sound proof. There have been many occasions when Micheal has made comments about sounds he hears from within Kitt.

I don't think sound proofing a car was ever thought off back in the 80's...people where more interested in makeing a car talk and drive by itself :-)

I disagree, only because of the Mandy scene in Kitt vs. KARR. And it goes back to Michael Pajaro's earlier topic of "how much did Michael really hear in the car, and how much was sound added for our benefit.

I believe that KITT and KARR most likely had the option, just like they had the option to black out the windows. To change the temperature within. Probably not a natural automatic feature, no, but most likely one added on.

Obvously they thought about making the exterior quiet, with silent mode. I am sorry that once again, I didn't explain in further detail, but considering that KITT was not an ordinary car, you would think that it would be a natural addition. Not giving KITT the ability to sound proof his interior is pretty much like KITT without tires. It just doesn't make much sense on a scientific level.

Actually I agree with you knightimmortal, cos right after I posted it I remembered that scene as well. Ah well... one of those inconsistencies in Knight Rider again...

Soundproof? No.

Highly sound resistant like in a high class luxory vehicle? Yes.

I just recently aquired a couple KR books and there is a reference to just how sound resistant KITT's cockpit is during the demolition derby race. I don't remember the exact wording, off hand. But, it mentions how loud it was on the dirt track at the start of the race and just how quiet it gets from Michael POV once he closes KITT's door.
