How many of the fellow board members were fans of Trans-am before Knight Rider, and how many fans fell in love with Trans-am through Knight Rider?

Personally I fell in love with the Trans-am because of Smokey and the Bandit. Then when Knight Rider came on I started liking that car better. Then when I got older I realized they were the same car just different years. I still liked the 82-92 Third generation Trans-am's better both because of Knight Rider and simply because I think they look better.

I was already into Trans-Ams before KR, because my family was into muscle car racing, auto racing, you name it, so it was already a pretty well talked about subject here at home. Then KITT solidifed it.

The car has something in it's design that it's nice, old sport muscle cars have that (for me). And yeah, now whenever I see a black TA, I just try to visualise the scanner on the nose.

Ive always been a Firebird/Trans Am Fan ever since they first came out, but I have to admit, KITT looked great as a black sleek
F-body...

Which came first? The car or the show?

I thought this thread was going a different direction from the topic.

In reply to that, I'd say the idea of a car came first. Then, the show was built around it. And, finally came the T/A model for the car to exist in.

As for the true topic...

Like with other postings, I'd say that when I see a black T/A...old or brand new...I unconsciously try to see a scanner on it's nose. So, I'll go with the show.

Although, the T/A just has a great, unique and powerful look about it that most other cars...just lack.

I watched KR and fell in love with the T/A because of it. Before KR, I didn't know T/As existed. Now I can see a T/A of any year and see the beauty in it.

I became a fan of T/A's because of Knight Rider...whenever I see one I envision the dash and the red scanner of KITT and KARR(From TDR)

I fell in love with the T/A cause of Knight Rider. I was born in 1982 so I didn't know much about cars yet. My neighbor had a third-gen Camaro, and I called it Kitt-car even though I knew it was a Camaro and not a Firebird.

I fell in love with Trans Ams before Knight Rider. My dad had/has a 1978 Trans Am T-Bar...forest green with white leather interior and I used to adore that car. I was only young but I *loved* it. Then I used to watch episodes of Knight Rider with my dad, curled up on the couch next to him when I was about four or five. So it holds those great memories too and that's why I'm a fan.

I've liked the car ever since the first episode of KITT was aired on NBC. I like the Bandit model, my cousin had one but God only knows what happened to it. My other cousin owned an early 90's model Firebird, red, but she traded it in because of the rugrat on the way. The only version of a TA that I can afford is a $30 diecast, at least you don't have to have insurance for that one.

I REALLY like the '98-2000 models, I think KITT would look awesome in one. The new cars already have the hole for the light in the bumper already. IF I had the money, and the job to afford a TA, I'd get a black one and find an after market bumper to fix up with the scanner and then put it on the car. Granted they are outlawed in NC, but I wouldn't run the light at night or on the road anyway.

Bandit 2 started my love of the T/A, which later spread to all things F-body. Knight Rider just solidified it for me. There's just something different about the 3rd gens. I had an 83 Camaro when my Grandfather got his 95 Z-28, and can tell you that new car didn't create half the spark that the old Camaro did. I was in absolute heaven when I got my current car, a 92 bird. If I couldn't have the car I do now maybe a 67 Firebird would feel just as right!

I wonder what we would be talking about if K.I.T.T. was not a Trans Am.
But, for me, Knight Rider started my love of Trans Ams. Without K.I.T.T. I could never look at the sleek look of a Trans Am in the same way, that I do now, knowing that K.I.T.T. is the best of the bunch!

:D I was born in march of 82 so it was the show that turned me on to the car. My dad turned me on to the show. I can't remember how old I was.
