Re: Knight Rider on Hiatus?

I would have to say that if by some miracle NBC does bring back the show, you'd be seeing more GST at the helm. He has a two-year deal with NBC and he would be the logical choice. Dave Andron would not be involved; he's signed on to another show. On one level, it seems possible, but it's not an ANY ...

Re: Knight Rider News - NBC Announces Their 2009-2010 Line-up

KR08 developer Dave Andron has signed on as a supervising producer/writer on FOX's "Past Life", to air on Tuesdays this winter following American Idol. Too bad they couldn't have a stronger lead in...

Re: Gary Scott Thompson Step Up....

AFAIK, no calls have gone out to any of the former KR writing staff. That is not a good sign. Not a good sign in terms of the show getting picked up again, but by some miracle if it does happen to, I wouldn't want any of the same writers back, anyway, and that especially includes Gary Scott Thompso...

Re: Gary Scott Thompson Step Up....

Here's the thing... In order for KR to return in the fall, an official pick-up would have to happen in the next day or two, because writers would have to be hired, and offers to writers are currently going out from other shows that HAVE been picked up. If you're late to that game, you lose the best ...

Re: An Interesting Development

The thing about Kilmer is, he can ALWAYS come in and do his part, (no matter what else he's doing) so the fact that they haven't nailed him down doesn't mean anything. After all, they picked him to do the pilot about a month before it aired. Not including Deanna at this point is a bit of a head-scra...

An Interesting Development

I had occasion to spend some time with one of KR's producers and heard some interesting tidbits. The first is, the DVD is definitely happening, they were working on car crash footage for the gag reel. It should be out within the next month or two, and will include the 2-hour. No word on Blu-Ray, but...

I gather you haven't seen Friday Night Lights, one of the best shows on TV, IMHO. It's not really about football. Incidentally, two of the writers on KR were (and still are) also writing for FNL.

Re: NBC's "Kings" bombs as well

The critics won't matter if viewers don't tune in. When the KR BDP aired, it picked up viewers every half-hour, ending up with around 14 million. Kings shed viewers every half hour, ending up around 5.5 million. That's a bad sign for Kings...it means viewers weren't liking what they were seeing. I'm...

Re: Ratings for "The Chopping Block" - KR's replacement

It's cold comfort at this point, but comfort nonetheless. :) It is interesting that the new reality show, against no competition, couldn't come close to KR's last (and building) audience. Now, if Kings and Southland tank (as they probably will) if could be a new ball game... I'm basing this on nothi...

Re: NBC PULLED THE SHOW????

Besides reality shows can anyone think of any series that had a great first season? Are you talking artistically or ratings-wise? Artistically, sure. Sopranos, Dexter, Mad Men, 24, House...just off the top of my head. Ratings wise, I'm not certain, but all these shows did well enough (or were good ...

Re: NBC PULLED THE SHOW????

I'm a little tired of the American Idol excuse. A popular show should be able to do better than 5-6 mil against Idol. This is a KR problem, not an AI problem. (well, and an NBC in general problem...)

IMO, Umbragom is scared of us. You know WHY he uses IMDB? He's too scared to say it to our faces, so he goes somewhere else and attacks us. People, don't put him on your ignore! You're only going to sweep your problem in a hiding place, but it's just going to come back, possibly bigger and stronger...

Re: NBC PULLED THE SHOW????

Nothing official. But I dispute the argument that the "show wasn't given a chance" Most shows are not given a chance and canceled fairly quickly. But KR was given 3 different creative presentations the tv film, initial series episodes, and the retool. The series in particular was given a ...

Re: A couple of quick questions...

Your episode downloads were badly cut. There's an opening theme, which can be easily found on youtube.. but there are no real credits. Credits nowdays are smushed down to a small bar while above them plays the "Next Week on.." or previews the next show to be on. Actually most of the credi...

Re: Ratings for "Fly By Knight"

Primarily from advertising, which is a big problem for the broadcast nets these days--people are DVRing the shows and not watching the commercials. They can make money from syndication, overseas rights and DVD sales, but a show needs to stick around long enough for those things to happen.

Re: Ratings for "Fly By Knight"

^^ It has to do with expectations. Knight Rider had to be a huge success. That's what NBC wanted and, in fact, that's what it still needs badly. In addition, the show costs. The fact that what it costs now is still not enough to pull it off (it certainly needs a bigger budget than what it already h...

Re: Just some speculation

A few points here: - Andron doesn't have the experience to be a showrunner. - GST was asked to do this (twice, mind you), because NBC "wanted a show people would watch". Of course, they sort of forgot you have to pay to do a show. - I don't know how much creative input Andron has in the o...
