Well, getting back on track, I agree with Laura that MK was a man on a mission, with or without the Foundation, but the Foundation gave him better means to accomplish his goal.

If KITT were totally upside down, on his roof, he could possibly, but not very likely, use the autoroof to right himself, but I doubt the autoroof function was built with enough strength to perform that task. Perhaps if he were on his side, using the auto door opener would right him. I think the doo...

Um, most tracked vehicles, like tanks or bulldozers, can turn a full circle in their own width, due to their type of skid steer transmission and lever operation. KITT vs. a tank, of course KITT would win. He has far greater fuel efficiency, and if nothing else, he could wait out the tank. If KITT ha...

The whoosh was always a part of KITT's scanning motion. The characters would have heard it constantly. As KI said, they would have tuned it out. Now, the sound editors had the scanning sound emphasized at certain times for the viewer's sake, as when KITT was scanning something especially important, ...

KITT's scanner in the KR world obviously did have a mechanical device that physically moved back and forth, causing the beloved whooshing sound. The characters were meant to hear this - Michael in particular. The actors did not hear it though. That sound was certainly dubbed in later. If I were desi...

To answer both your questions...yes, sort of, and no, not necessarily, haha. The elements I mentioned would make for a skeleton of immense strength and resistance to corrosion. Yet, it would not be totally indestructible, as is Adamantium. The hood is a weak area by nature, simply by the shape of th...

Let's not forget the amount of money that KITT costed. Though the Foundation liked to make KITT seem like a modified T/A with original stock skeleton, Wilton Knight could very well have had his most trusted engineers remake KITT's frame out of any custom alloy, without giving anyone else the full in...

Well, given that those are ramjet engines, and can't operate very well beneath Mach 1, and prefer much higher speeds, and given that one of those engines alone is bigger than KITT, and that the Blackbird is built like a spear, rather than a car, and the fact that the Blackbirds frame and skin are bu...

My advice, if you're looking to build something with KITTlike performance, is to think outside the box. No conventional piston engine can do it alone, and no existing turbine in production can either. The technology must reliably and seemlessly fuse the two, giving the best of both power, efficiency...

The scanner was actually regular filament bulbs, not LEDs. KITT had a V8, with turbine for extra power when needed. The actual engine used for the show was a suped up 350. (I guess the 350 is about the most commonly used - and boring - performance engine in the world. Practically anybody can go fast...

Favorite guest characters.
You can list anyone except Bonnie, Devon, Michael, KITT or RCIII.
I won't list any favorites or have a poll because I want people to work solely without suggestion.
Good day all!:)

Exactly. We agree down to the letter. Using only the speed of of the semi, KITT's speed in relation to the ground beneath him, and pretending that KITT's motor had the torque to keep the wheels moving at the same speed without slowing, only then would KITT travel 57mph faster than the semi and shoot...

About KITT shooting backwards...that's an impossibility except from the vantange point of the semi. Let's say KITT backed out onto the road and stopped. From the semi, moving at 55mph, it would appear to shoot backwards, when in reality, it didn't move at all. Now, if KITT is in neutral, when his re...

I suppose I should also chip in, since I'm fairly well known on this topic also. The issues at hand are velocity relative to the ground, and velocity relative to the semi, with the extra force needed to climb the ramp thrown in. Now, if one kept a constant throttle going 57mph on the road, while the...
