- Topic: Did KITT Have a Handbrake?

I think some of the cars had them, if you look in the pilot when michael pulls up to the house of the rising sun at one point he puts KITT in park and pulls the handbrake up before getting out. the 180 turns were done with a line lock, basically it was the handbrake but it was operated with your foo...

well he wasnt made into a can, devon said the trans am body had been recycled, then you could see all sorts of bits in the big box they are standing in front of. KITT was disposed of because maddock didnt want to pay the price of storage for the car basically However in the episode 'Forget me not' m...

He had an auto gearbox. the real car was a 3 speed auto but the 'real KITT' was supposed to have something like an 8 speed box capable of handling the turbine engines power. In just about every episode it will show michael shifting into gears or KITT shifting himself into gears if hes in auto cruise...

KITT's been severley damaged or destroyed in a few episodes. The first time ever was in Goliath which is the season 2 premiere. Next it was Knight of the Drones which was the season 3 premiere, after that it was junkyard dog which is a great season 3 episode and lastly he's totally mashed in the sea...

Its hard to tell in the earlier episodes anyway as they didnt introduce the turbo boost sfx we all know until later on. also on that jump you hear a distinctive 'thud' noise as the car hits the ramp which was put in as a sfx then just the long turbine noise as you see the car nose dive in slow motio...
