Re: The Reboot- I think it is too late
I think the poster's basic premise is flawed. Yes, the show lost a lot of viewers last week. I believe there are two very good reasons that have nothing to do with the quality and creative of the show. One, the show had a big interruption in momentum by losing a week to Obama. Two, and more importan...

Re: KITT on Leno, sortof.
I don't think Leno lets his personal preferences show. He just reflects whatever the conventional wisdom is. I hate to say it, but the conventional wisdom is that KR is not a good show. Leno is just riding that bandwagon. If KR had a better reputation, he'd change his tune.

I had heard they were going to run eps 4 and 5 back-to-back. Instead they ran ep. 5 only and then the Office and SNL.

The four scripts was an interim move, but now NBC has ordered a full back nine pickup, for a total of 22 eps this year. Anything can happen at this point.

Re: repeating comands and such
I agree with Mike here. I like the repetition, I think it makes KITT more believable, and gives the writers some room to grow the character. In the time of the original show, no one really knew how a computer this advanced would behave, so they made him very human. Now people understand, or think th...

Re: Live Discussion Thread: Knight of the Hunter
Interesting Aside: This episode was written by two of the consulting producers, Pat Massett and John Zinman, who work as a team. They are, essentially, part-timers, who were brought in to add depth to the writing staff. They are also producers and writers on Friday Night Lights, and are considered t...

Re: Just sit back and ENJOY NEW Knight Rider
Thanks for the positive post. And, I agree. I think that the show is starting to stand on it's own merits. Really, all they could borrow from the original is the name and the basic concept. In order to survive today, there had to be changes, and some of these changes upset the fans of the original. ...

Re: Live Discussion Thread: A Hard Day's Knight
Okay, watching it again now I guess they did either have a dummy in the seat or the VFX team added someone, I doubt they'd actually have someone in there while the car was spinning though, heh. OK, I do know for a fact that there WAS an actual stuntman in the car. They made it appear to rotate fast...

Re: Live Discussion Thread: A Hard Day's Knight
I'm seeing some nit-picky criticisms here, and of course from the haters who are convinced that the whole show is just irredeemable. They will never be happy. I feel, with regard to this episode, that the show went to another level of competency. It was better acted, better written, and in general m...

Re: Live Discussion Thread: A Hard Day's Knight
[Shapeshifter, thank you! I am sad to hear that though. Do you know if or to what extent the interventions of the studio affect the mythology or single episodes in general and if (and what) the producers are going to do about it? I don't know. I know that this sort of thing happens more often then ...

Re: Live Discussion Thread: A Hard Day's Knight
i like the way KITT could turn into a Van and the police car and the mission impossible referces. But where was the stuff of Michael's past? Guess we were misinformed about that NBC brass bailed on the flashback scenes (you can pretty much see where they were supposed to go) that dealt with Mike's ...

Re: My Knight rider script.... Leave feedback
A script is a blueprint for an episode. They generally run a page per minute of screen time, so a script for an hour is 45-55 pages long. An outline, or treatment, is about 4 pages long, and describes the episode in great detail. An outline must be signed off on by the studio and the network before ...

Re: Episode 3's tone was too campy, why??
One quick note: HEROES is not possessive. Leave out the apostrophes. Now, on to your point about the music; Scoring has changed a lot in 20 plus years. In those days composers scored shows 'wall to wall', that is, there was always music going, and it always commented on the action. Today's music sup...

Re: Overnight Nielsons for Knight of the Iguana
A couple of bright spots; KR picked up viewers on the half-hour. It tied for second in the 18-49 demo. It was NBC's highest rated show of the night. I don't think we need to write the obit just yet. If that's the case they should really use that in ads for that show. Like, "The number one show...

Re: BAD NEWS!!!! Actors Move Toward Strike Vote
If last years strike does have any effect on the current situation, it is actually helpful to KR. That's because it reduces expectations at the network, and makes these not-so-hot ratings acceptable. When, due to last years' strike, EVERYONE'S numbers are down, KR's numbers start to look decent. The...

Re: Is NBC committed to Knight Rider?
I mentioned this in another thread, as per my conversation with one of the show's producers. NBC is committed to the show. If they hold or improve these numbers they are almost certain to air the first thirteen, and will most likely be picked up for the back nine. They begin shooting episode 11 this...

Re: Overnight Nielsons for Journey to the End of Knight
My theory as to why the show doesn't have such great ratings is mainly negative press and word-of-mouth. The 2-hour backdoor pilot had great ratings because it was the first time Knight Rider was brought back in any form since 1997. It was a fresh new attempt and people were curious and hopeful. Bu...

Re: Overnight Nielsons for Journey to the End of Knight
The new numbers were a big relief. Speaking to one of the producers, it seems almost a sure bet now that KR will get it's 13 episode run, and if these numbers hold (or improve) for another week or two, it will most likely get picked up for the "back nine". That decision will be made in the...

Re: Anything the 2-hour movie did BETTER?
The 2 hour at least made an attempt to give us more character development and story. It may not have fully pulled it off, but I think it becomes obvious from watching the series premier that doing a re-make is a lot harder than it looks. The GST interview where he mentions the battles that the produ...
