I got to meet him when I was a kid. They were filming an episode of Knight Rider down the hill from where I lived at the time. He was way way tall from what I remember. I was only 6 at the time.

That shell is their lifeline. And hopefully some improvements have been made to withstand very high temps for longer periods of time.
