Re: My 3d KITT done in Maya!

Fantastic model man. I'm especially impressed with the interior and would be curious about your process. The only thing that I think would benefit from a little tweaking is the stripe along the middle of the doors. It seems a little too tall to me and I think it needs to come out from the surface ju...

What I would do with the Mustang KITT

I think the look of the Trans Am was absolutely central to the success of the old series, and the Mustang looks completely different. I understand that Ford is more than likely a sponsor, and it's sort of an appropriate choice, but I think it needs more modification. So I sketched my "solution....

Sadly nothing. I don't even have 3ds max installed on my computer anymore. But I still have the files if I get ambitious.

Something I made a long time ago:

It's *pretty* accurate. But if you're going to use it for something like building a 3d model, you'll need to tweak it a bit.

Thanks for all the replies :) Just FYI, this won't be updated for a looooong time. Sorry. Gotta finish my website, get a job, move away, and find a life. BUT I'll probably get around to the interior and details someday. Later y'all.

I suppose I should've read other peoples' posts before I voted, because I think I agree now. LOL

But Season 3 has the best episodes, IMHO and you don't really need the backstory to enjoy the later episodes - it's not like they build a broader story arc.

And of course it wouldn't be fair to not show KITT himself. So:

You knew it was only a matter of time. CGI KARR: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/wannabegeorge/KARR-new2.jpg It's hard to get the right shade of amber on his scanner. Obviously, these models aren't completely finished, but they're getting danged close. Still to be done: -trunk 'bubbles' -blac...

Do you ever excitedly post something and later realize how crappy it looks? Yeah, that's definitely the case here. No more bad lighting! It takes SO much away from the model. I experimented this morning and think I've come up with something that I like. I had to tweak the crap out of the materials, ...

Update - hooray :) Still not happy with the lighting/setting (haven't messed with it yet), but I have accomplished quite a bit. Notice - headlights (now I'm happy with them), new scanner setup (not 100% satisfied, but it's close), indicator lights, and I've put a block under the car so light doesn't...

Thanks KR :D As far as the diagrams go, I've had several requests elsewhere, so here you are: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/wannabegeorge/kitt-diagrams.jpg I should note they're not perfectly accurate and you'll have to tweak your model a lot to make it look good. I won't get into the detai...

I doubt anything will come of this. Honestly, I don't think Universal will feel it's worth the investment. They may have said something to appease fans ("of course we'll fix it") but soon after they released season four with a few of the same problems. Most of them aren't *too distracting ...

Knight-Armen - I don't know how well a GTA conversion would work, but Reddawg is still planning (I assume) to try. I wanted to build this model for myself because it's the closest I'll ever get to actually owning the car. The downside is you can't drive it or show it off, but the upside is it doesn'...

Thanks for the comments. I gotta work on that license. I'm not happy with the colors. Grrr ... Knight2000 - I did my best to model the tread as seen in the show. Dunno what episode, but it's based on a screencap. Check out the other thread for a better image, if you're interested. After much experim...

One thing I fixed is the back end - now it has its curve, and the license plate is placed a bit better. Observe:

Guess I'll put the updates up front, random though they may seem: *more images of each model on pages 2 and 3. KITT: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/wannabegeorge/kitt-front.jpg VS KARR: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/wannabegeorge/karr-front.jpg Believe it or not, I haven't given up....

Knight Racer - It's funny what perspective'll do. I think (and feel free to disagree) the plate is *close* to accurate dimensions: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/wannabegeorge/license.jpg I used an 83 Trans Am promotional image as my basis, so it should be close. I'm not happy with the silve...

Okay, here's another little one. One of KITT's defining features:

Gotta work on how deep the license plate is in the bumper, but it's fun to see.
