It was the 1980's and Michael Knight was taking on the biggest and baddest criminals in the era. They were so bad he needed a multi million dollar, indesructable. The coolest car on earth but..... he never had a gun. All these baddies would be armed to the teeth and michael was unarmed. Just did no...

Yeah as a kid I always assumed the car was remote-controlled too. I never even THOUGHT to look for the hidden driver behind the seat until I read about it in one of those Knight Rider Albums.

Now that I know he's there, it's hard NOT to notice it. LOL

another thing that bugged me(although not many people could have done it better) is that they always cut out the landing of the turbo boost, but you can clearly see kitts nose getting smashed and all bent anyway. Yeah I mentioned that up above. Just when it seemed like the car was coming down at a r...

I always heard that it was because Bruce Banner was too "comic booky" and the producers wanted the show to be more realistic. You know, because a giant green guy running around and growling wasn't "comic booky" at all! LOL

LOL. I think KITT might have gotten jealous. Him and Michael were supposedly lovers, remember? At least that's what the network was afraid of.

Things that annoy me: THE PACING --I know it was the 80s and people had longer attention spans back then... but dang, some of these episodes are slow! I tried watching my DVDs all the way through at first, but eventually had to fastforward to the action scenes. THE SAME LOCATIONS --Did KITT and Mich...

True, but it still looked kind of odd. Michael has all this INCREDIBLE technology in front of him... all these hundreds of buttons and readouts and instruments....

...yet he still has to reach under the dash to turn the key and start the engine. LOL

I believe the ugly nose came from the 30 minute pilot or "presentation" that was made to NBC. Instead of refilming all the old stuff, they just edited it together with the new footage (and the new car). Thank god they changed that nose though. I don't think any of us would still be talking...

Most of the time you could see Michael mysteriously reaching deep under the dash to start the car. I only remember one time when he actually used the "Power" button on the dash (in the episode where he supposedly turned "evil"). But then, I guess you don't have to worry about lea...

Knight Rider was MADE for the 80s. It was an action show with lots of cool stunts, it had that funky 80s soundtrack, and most importantly, it was light and fun. In the 90s they started using cheesy computer effects for everything instead of real, practical stunts. And the music got really cheap and ...

I got one of those in front of the Albertsons across the street from me. It's painted red for some odd reason though. A part of me wants to sneak over some night and spray paint it completely black (and airbrush on a glowing scanner while I'm at it).

Something I always use is this water-based antiquing paint that's used in gold leafing. You can be as messy as you want yet when you wipe the edges they're as clean and shiny as ever. They have them in tiny little bottles at Michaels.

I was looking at the car again and another error just popped out at me: the cowl thing on the hood is way too centered. There should be a line straight down the middle, but the cowl overlaps it. It's such a basic part of KITT's design, I don't know how anybody could screw it up. It's becoming more a...

No, I don't think so. The factory probably has problems with the huge demand that they can't keep up, resulting in a backlog. Another theory is that this is a limited run of 10,000 pieces, as Skav pointed out earlier. Not to mention that its almost Christmas, where fans may buy more than one to giv...

Those are some cool comparison pics. You know, as much as I love that Delorean, KITT clearly blows it off the screen. In fact, it's amazing just how modern KITT still looks with that black paint job. You would never guess from those pics that you're looking at a 22 year-old Pontiac!

I do have one of those old 1:16 Firebird kits which I can modify into a more accurate KITT... someday. :) Check out some pics of my 1982 1:24 scale Monogram Trans Am. If you build your Firebird as a stock model, this is probably what it will look like (although mine is a hard-top) Thanks for the pi...

If you look back in this thread a little bit, I've pointed this out as well. It doesn't look quite right from a side view, you are correct, but I personally believe the reason the nose was trimmed shorter on the bottom was to provide better access to the grappling hook underneath. I sure HOPE that'...

I've seen people's suggestions for fixing the fog lights and hubcaps, but what about the seats? Can they just be unscrewed and glued down further back? And then what do you do about the passenger ejection seat?

Somehow, with the seats so far forward, it makes the car look shorter than it really is.

and i think it would be best to see KR2000 as the "first attempt" at a sequel, rather than have the new film spin off from it. casual viewers wont know about KR2000 and so wont know much about its plot, and to go into it in the new film would be daft and off-putting. and let's remember, t...

While I agree they overused the models towards the end of the series, the one shot that still impresses me is in Brother's Keeper, when KITT turboboosts over the prison wall. It's obviously a model and doesn't have the weight of a real car, but it's still cool as hell. That is one of the best action...

Hi all, I'm new here and just got the car myself from diecastmuscle. I have to say I'm really impressed overall, but the front end really bugs me. It hardly slopes down at all, and is way too short and high! The car looks good from above, but from ground level it's kinda goofy. I haven't heard anyon...
