Re: Youtube The Aficionauto doingvideo on kitt mustang soon

I personally like the K3000 far more of a fan of the K2000 for sure but the Mustang is a nice successor to the original. and the fact that I own the same style Mustang in black in real life has NOTHING to do with it ;).

Re: Base car to start a KITT/KARR replica

yes you can put any GM motor in any car as long as it fits. I have seen people put the later LT1 engines (used in 93 to 97 firebird/TA) and LS1 engines (used in 98 to 02) and LS3 engines (used in 10 and up) in the early 80s and even 70s and 60s cars. you just need to make sure you have all that came...

Re: Base car to start a KITT/KARR replica

well the 87 up cars especially the trans am and formulas had the tuned port multiport fuel injection which was a lot better for mpg than the early carberatored cars and the ones that had throttle body fuel injection which was basically a fancy carb. I have owned 2 cars that had the throttle body fue...

Re: Base car to start a KITT/KARR replica

basically any 3rd gen (82 to 92) can be used just make sure it at least a T top. FYI try to keep away from the 90 to 92 cars as they have airbags that COULD make doing a conversion difficult, not impossible, just difficult. as the other poster said you would need the early 3rd gen parts to make it w...

Re: Building a KITT Replica

the problem with the later formula hoods was they were molded as one part they did not have that part of the scoop that was separate like the ones on the early TA cars (KITT had that hood with the separate part on the edge of the scoop). as many or many did not know the TA cars that had that scoop t...

Re: Building a KITT Replica

not true 90 was the first year of the airbag in the steering wheel so you will be fine if you get a 82 up to a 89. and it had nothing to do with the speed GM wanted to make sure ALL of their cars had them by that year or newer as it was mandated by the government that you had to at least have a driv...

Re: Anybody interested in a Knight 3000 rear spoiler?

mine is cracked too but it runs horizontal along the area near where it attaches to the lid and it has a scuff/scrape on the left side. the previous owner wrecked the car and the shop fixed the damage they forgot to repair the wing. so it needs to be repaired and repainted and no it has no stripes I...

Re: Anybody interested in a Knight 3000 rear spoiler?

thanks well my car has the GT front grille/bumper (bigger round lights in the grille) so having that wing really worked better for the style of the front.

Anybody interested in a Knight 3000 rear spoiler?

as you may our may not know I own a 07 Mustang coupe with the pony package and in said package is the same rear wing as the K3000 KITT. I never really cared for it I have since removed it and replaced it with a GT style raised unit. if anybody is interested in doing a K3K replica this is one of the ...

Re: 2008 Kitt Question

I can confirm the spoiler thing, my 07 V6 coupe has the same flush fitting rear wing as on the back of the GT500KR (shelby liked the look of it when they were going through the different wings used on other cars so they used my style wing on the GT500KR).

Re: Hallmark Ornament Kitt

I do not have mine handy (I left it in my friend's car *face palm*) but if it is anything like other HM ornaments the loop is just screwed in, just twist it to the left a few times nice and slow and it should come right out easy.

Re: got a perfect donor car for a Knight 3000

I only posted this thread as a half joke, I have no desire to make a KITT out of my car, mainly cause the prices of the Shelby body parts and the wheels/tires are crazy high. Hell, the price on tires for my car from the factory are $200 plus per tire and I only have 17" not the 20" on the ...

Re: T-Tops in bright sun

some of the later cars came with them from the factory they were color matched to the headliner fabric color. I did not have them on my 88 Camaro, but I could have gotten them if I wanted too. Instead I simply had them put the darkest tint you could get on them since there is no law on tint on t top...

Re: What's the difference between a 1982 to 1992 Trans Ams?

with the exception of the front clip (fenders/hood, front fascia) they are all the same sheet metal. the only issues you may have with the 90-92 cars is the airbag in the steering wheel. I have seen many KITT's made off of the later cars. the one big advantage of the newer cars is the engines are a ...

Re: KITT Replica engine/fuel question

sadly there is no real way to get better MPG than what came from the factory in those 80s cars. Mainly cause the fuel systems they used (most were throttle body aka a fancy electronic carb), that and the transmissions were not really made for MPG most were 3 speeds some were 4. as for the gas tank a...

the only thing that makes those 3rd gen and the later all different 4th gen cars was the pop up lights, as of this posting there are currently NO cars built today that have any kind of retractable lights, they are all exposed to give the cars good aerodynamics (something that those pop lights would ...
