Re: Why the blacked out windows?

The windows are blacked out when the stunt driver is too visible, plain and simple. There's no other *fast* way to do it,and I stress fast because they have to shoot as much car as they can as fast as they can. The remote control unit is a separate device, and was in the fact the very same unit you ...

amen Phoenix, and yes, they would almost certainly invest in a jump car I think.

Re: The new turbo boosts

I would agree with many of the statements so far, turbo boost is one of those particular effects that is pretty hard to get looking any good in CG. You are quite correct that there was a goof, the logo is back on when the car goes back over. That shot was a last minute addition, we just missed it. T...

Re: LIve Discussion Thread - Knight Fever

to be fair, when the top rated show in the time slot gets a 3.2, 2.7 isn't bad at all. Comparing that number to other episodes isn't a fair comparison. Next Wednesday, however, will be a fair comparison.

very few people watch tv on News Years Eve (except the actual ball dropping).

Re: LIve Discussion Thread - Knight Fever

The movie "Shrek 2" put ABC on top at 8 p.m. with a modest 3.2/6. A "Bones" repeat on FOX earned a 2.8/5, edging NBC's "Knight Rider" (2.7/5). CBS was right behind, averaging 2.6/5 with repeats of "Old Christine" and "Gary Unmarried." The CW aired th...

Re: Episode 12: 'Knight to King's Rook' Spoilers

I'm under strict orders not to say anything about upcoming episodes.

I can say, however, that we're really busy over here making something upcoming in a future episode really, really damn cool, which is why we haven't been on the forums lately . . . ;)

Re: Stunts-KR 2008

hey guys, resident VFX dude at Knight Rider. We'd love to do more stunts, its all a matter of cost. As the series goes on, and the costs can be amortized over more episodes, you'll see more stunt work done. CGI aint cheap, but its cheaper than destroying a Shelby GT500 Mustang :)

Re: Live Discussion Thread: Knight of the Iguana

Regarding the VFX: "1. The car just "disappears" before it hits KITT. Seriously, even a cheap CGI car flying into water would have been better than the disappearing act." Creatively the idea was to keep the audience guessing what happened to KITT. Was KITT blown to pieces? If we ...

Re: Live Discussion Thread - Journey To The End Of Knight

hey guys, Vertigo here form the VFX team, glad everyone liked this one, we had a fun time with it, especially with the car transforming in the air, mike looking down at the kid, and KITT's laser. And of course the classic desert scene racing toward us :) Some quick comments about the VFX shots in ge...

hey guys, vertrigo here from the Knight Rider VFX team. I'll put this sucker up in its original full 1920x1080 glory so you don't have to pull it from crappy quicktimes :) meant to do it sooner, just haven't had the time.

Hey Fellas, thanks z00story for posting some more info on that shot, the days been busy. what was I working on? turb . . . something . . . anyway, I'm sure it'll come to me :) On the first posted shot, we intentionally shot it shaky as we felt it sells it far more when its that documentary style fee...

The "Parking Lot Transform" REVISITED - From the KR VFX Team

Hey there, A colleauge of mine, z00story, has posted a couple of things from the vfx team here on the show, and I thought I'd post another version of what you guys already saw. As mentioned in z00's post, this was a *very* roughly composited and rendered shot just done as an effects test in our park...
